The Red Pill has always been a shithole, but a necessary shithole. There was never a time when it was anything other than a shithole it’s just that shit tends to disappear while the cream rises to the top. Jordan Peterson’s most useful comment has been for us to clean our rooms before trying to save the world, and most guys don’t care about that so long as he yells at trans people.
I’m going to be bringing up a few old and new faces. People who I think this applies to. People who, instead of addressing their own personal or professional failures and adapting to their current situation by: swapping notes with other men on sexual strategy, positive male identity, or just moving the fuck on, decide to distracting everyone they can and dragging everyone down with them. I call the pricks.
Of course there’s always the good sources of notes. What made them different is that they weren’t writing to persuade anyone else of anything. They were writing to process their own world. They may have looked at abstract research and studies like the pricks do, but it was always in service of something tied to their lives. It was always to amplify, never to be the divining rod of truth. I find it’s good to tell the difference between value and snake oil.
And since this shit hole has such a well defined scope, it’s best to get in, get what you need, then get the fuck out. As much as I don’t want to offer advice, I think I can responsibly make an exception here: The moment you look to this space as a clubhouse, team, identity, entertainment venue or cargo cult is the moment that you need to move on. This isn’t supposed to be Tetsuo, it’s supposed to be cast iron. Buy it only once and use it for life
Clean your room
Everyone likes a role model. Mine is Jordan Peterson. Not because of his message, but the meta of his handling of accidental fame. It’s the perfect combination of aspiration and cautionary story. I’d sum it up as: With friends like these, who needs enemies?
His body of work contains some very important stuff though…
